I upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. Since then, my LAN connection consistently stops functioning. I'll get a yellow bang on the LAN icon, and I will be unable to browse the internet or connect to other machines on my local network. This happens inside five minutes or sometimes stays up for an hour or so but has gone down at least seven times this morning. Nothing I can see correlates in app/sys logs. IPconfig renew behaves as if the media is disconnected. I have other computers on my home network that use the same dhcp server provided by ATT, so I know it's not a problem with my ISP. If I run the built in Windows network troubleshooter, it completely disables my LAN connection (red X), and the connection will stay disabled even when I right-click to enable it. Is that what I'm doing? I will do my best to explain the driver update process. The extracted driver folder should be named Win_B57_x64_v17.2.0.0 This folder should contain the following three files: b57nd60a.cat b57nd60a.inf b57nd60a.sys Make note of where this folder is located so you can point Windows 10 to it when updating the driver. At the bottom right hand corner of this windows left mouse click the Have Disk. You will now see a Install From Disk window. At the bottom right select the Browse. Button and point it to the folder Win_B57_x64_v17.2.0.0. Now double left click the file within this folder called b57nd60a This will take you back to the Install from disk window, left click the OK button. You will now be at the Select the driver you want to install for this hardware window with a list of Model entries beginning with 3Com Dual Port 10/100/1000 PCI-X Server NIC. Scroll down to the entry called Broadcom Netlink (TM) Gigabit Ethernet and double left click it. You may now see a Update Driver Warning window, left click the Yes button to continue installing the driver. If all goes well you should now see Windows has successfully updated your driver software, click the Close button on the bottom right corner of this window. Since installing this driver I've had no issues whatsoever with my network connection in Windows 10.
